10/10/12
I've been too busy with writing and recording to make time for web updates, but I wanted to try
and get something for a summary of 2011.
The last year was a constant struggle between personal conflicts and our drive toward our music. In spite of these things, we have a few things to be proud of.
For one, our music was added to some new radio stations – as far away as Liverpool, England. We also enjoyed some pretty nice press coverage this year. We had some great performances this year, playing main stage at
Bash on the Farm, and showcasing at the Cornerstone Music Festival (with our name on the backs of t-shirts for both events – whoo-hoo). Then in the fall we pretty much started taking time off, working on writing and recording, as well as business aspects and redefining and focus for 2012.
Throughout the summer I recorded on a project for a country/gospel/jazz singer, and I closed off the year as part of Justin Hill's Christmas production as he let me cut loose and rock out to his Trans-Siberian Orchestra-esce arrangements. Oh, how I love to solo with a string section underneath me.
From a personal side, Barbe and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary this year. Being married to the exact woman I wanted to be married
to, this means a lot to me, especially in an age where divorces are so common and treated so casually. Robert dealt with the loss of his mother this year, but managed to stay strong and never appeared to lose his dedication
to our music. It's a real honor having musicians like them with the desire to work toward making music together.
2012 has started off as a year of great potential. We've got some great opportunities if they actually come to fruition, and the problem is the music business is volatile
enough this could go either way. But we're really trying to wait out and see what we can offer and develop that will allow us to step up our music another notch. Hopefully we can keep our focus on staying focused and
not just simply get out of the practice room prematurely. Keep watching this space for further developments.
