Spirit Midwest Ministries Presents Guitarist Dave Paris
Ankeny, Iowa, July 21, 2008 - Spirit Midwest Ministries to host Musician-oriented Cedar Rapids rock act The Dave Paris Group has been impressing audiences throughout Iowa and Illinois with their blend of instrumental, musician-oriented modern rock and jam-band blues. Their set can include over-the-top female-fronted vocal songs, acoustic sets, and covers ranging from Skillet to Joy Williams. Fans of artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Phil Keaggy, and Eric Johnson will find this band appealing, as well as those that want a taste of harder edged music fused with vocal styling of Evanescence and Disciple. The three-piece group has been playing all-ages venues like coffeehouses, clubs, festivals and fairs, as well as returning to the Northwest Iowa Christian festival Bash on the Farm. They have also worked with the Des Moines-based June Jam Series. Dave's schedule also contains solo acoustic sets as well as conducting guitar clinics for youth groups. Aside from Dave, the Dave Paris Group consists of bassist/vocalist/wife Barbe Paris. A multi-instrumentalist, Barbe is a classically trained pianist and opera-trained soprano, with a rock vocal edge not typically found in female artists. The drum throne for the band is now occupied by Robert Yoder; a long-time friend of Dave's who has performed with the Mr. and Mrs. Paris music machine in previous bands Holy Countdown and Dark Spectacle.
